Hee-Haw!

Croaker resident Ola Mae Richardson “Nannie” came down to her granddaughter and grandson-in-law’s farm in Red Oak Virginia for a “Hee-Haw” of a good time! She enjoyed playing with the children, staying up late watching fireworks on the 4th, and, of course, playing with the animals, especially Audrey (the mule) and of course her great-great-granddaughters Olivia, Sierra, Leah and Ashlyn.

(Left) Patterson, Orne, Konier, Smith and Hunt.

Recently, Toano Garden Club members traveled across the Chickahominy River by pontoon boat for their end-of-year luncheon and an installation ceremony of 2009-2011 officers at the Blue Heron Restaurant. Geneva Hunt, the Club’s guest and outgoing president of the Williamsburg Area Council of Garden Clubs, installed JC Konier, president; Kim Orne, second vice president; Debbie Patterson, secretary; and Betty Smith, treasurer. Linda Stowell, who was unable to attend, will serve as first vice president and Norma Wyatt as historian.
Other presentations included a review of 2008-2009 club highlights by Lexy Forlines and awards to club members. The annual award for artistic design went to Forlines, and Louise Bailey received the award for horticulture. In addition, Betty Smith received a club past president pin for her service as president during the past four years. The Club will resume its meetings on September 15th at the home of Beverley Smith.
