emergency ordinance to accomplish the removal, allowing the
development to move forward.

Nancy and A. G. and Norge, made for each other
By Jim Izzo
Every Sunday evening for the last 15 years, Mr. and Mrs. A.G.
Bradshaw, their children and grandchildren, have gotten together for
dinner. Each family brings something to eat, and the group shares
conversation and fellowship as well as food.
“Church and family have always been my top priority,” says Mr.
Bradshaw. “They’re really the same thing.”
“Then comes community service,” adds Mrs. Bradshaw. “I really love
Norge.”

Lightning sparks structure fire in Windsor Forest
Fire units were
dispatched to a residential structure fire at 18 Somerset Court in
the Windsor Forest subdivision on August 10, 2008, at 8:01 p.m.
James City County fire personnel arrived to find substantial fire
showing from the attic of the three story house. The occupants were
home at the time of the fire and report hearing lightning strike the
house. Immediately after hearing the lightning strike the occupants
checked the attic space and discovered the fire. They immediately
evacuated the house without injury. James City County Fire Marshals
have determined the cause of the fire to be a lightning strike to
the attic.
The fire was brought under control at 10:01 p.m. and James City
County Fire units remained on the scene until 12:30 a.m. There were
no firefighter or civilian injuries. The house suffered extreme fire
damage to the attic and moderate smoke damage to the second floor.
Seen any Mennonites?
By Twila Yoder Brunk
The story is told that a few years ago in Newport News someone was
heard to say that there used to be a lot of Mennonites around, but
none had been noticed lately. So what happened to the Mennonites?
While it’s true that some who wanted to continue farming moved out
of the Denbigh community, many of us are still around. It’s just
that you can’t tell so easily by looking.
